Formula 1 2027 · 1 August 2027Hungarian Grand Prix 2027: Hungaroring Tickets, Grandstands and Travel Guide
The Hungarian Grand Prix 2027 is round 13 of a 24-race calendar, with the race on Sunday 1 August at the Hungaroring in Mogyorod, around 20 km north-east of Budapest. This guide covers the weekend format, the best places to watch, ticket types, getting to the circuit and where to stay.
Hungarian Grand Prix 2027: dates and weekend format
The Hungarian Grand Prix 2027 is confirmed as round 13 of the 2027 Formula 1 season, with the race on Sunday 1 August. The weekend runs from Friday 30 July, which makes it an easy fit for a long summer weekend in central Europe. The calendar was announced in September 2026, so the dates are firm even though the detailed timetable is not out yet.
This is a conventional weekend with no sprint: practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the Grand Prix on Sunday. Because overtaking is so difficult here, Saturday carries more weight than at most circuits, and plenty of regulars treat qualifying as the main event. The organiser will publish the session schedule a few weeks before the weekend, so we do not quote times.
The 2027 cars run under new regulations, and Grand Prix distance is expected to shorten to roughly 290 km. That means fewer than the 70 laps seen in 2026, though the exact figure has not been published. For the wider picture, see our F1 2027 calendar.
Why the F1 Hungaroring is special
The Hungarian GP circuit: a tight, twisty bowl
The Hungaroring is 4.381 km long with 14 turns, and it is often described as Monaco without the walls. The layout is slow, flowing and constantly turning, set in a natural hollow outside Mogyorod. Lap times are short and the field is bunched, which makes qualifying a precision exercise.
F1 Hungaroring history
The first race here was in 1986, the first Formula 1 Grand Prix held behind the Iron Curtain, and the track was built in about eight months from October 1985. Nigel Mansell clinched the 1992 title here and Michael Schumacher did the same in 2001. Lewis Hamilton leads the winners' list with eight victories, and his 2020 lap of 1:16.627 is still the benchmark.
The circuit's capacity is around 70,000, so it feels more intimate than the giant stadium-style venues. If you are weighing it against other European rounds, compare it with the Austrian Grand Prix and the Belgian Grand Prix.
Where to watch the Hungarian GP: grandstands and general admission
The track sits in a natural bowl, so a large share of it is visible from many vantage points. That is why the general admission hillsides are so popular: you can see a good deal of the lap, and big screens fill the gaps. Shade is limited, so plan for sun.
Hungarian GP grandstands
- T1: around the first corner at the end of the main straight, with start-line braking and first-lap action. It is the best overtaking chance on the track.
- Grid: on the main straight by the start/finish line, with views of the grid, the start, the pit wall and the podium.
- Pit Exit: near Turn 1, where you see cars rejoining and running into the first corner.
- Chicane: the chicane section, good for heavy braking and kerb riding.
- Grand Prix, Apex and Fan: reserved grandstands. Check the seat map for the exact view before you buy.
General admission for the Hungarian Grand Prix
General admission standing tickets are sold for the weekend and for race day, with adult and junior options. Grandstand seats are numbered and assigned. Since overtaking is rare, a seat with a view of the pit straight and Turn 1, plus a screen, is a sensible compromise.
Tickets and hospitality for the Hungarian Grand Prix 2027
Tickets are on sale now, and you can see current availability through the Tickets button on this page. Categories include three-day passes, race-day general admission, grandstand seats and several packages. Beyond the standard seats, there are Fan Lounge and Champions Club hospitality options, plus four-day Hero and Starter packages built around the Pit Exit, Turn 1 and Apex grandstands.
Prices vary by category and by how early you book, so we do not list figures here. As a rule, reserved seats near Turn 1 and the main straight go first, while hillside general admission stays available longer. Tickets are digital and sent about ten days before the event. Junior tickets require ID, because age is checked at entry.

Getting to the F1 Hungaroring from Budapest
The circuit is in Mogyorod, about 20 km north-east of Budapest, and the nearest airport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc. Suburban rail and bus links run from Budapest towards Mogyorod, but the exact race-weekend routes are confirmed closer to the event, so check them before you travel.
Driving and parking at the Hungaroring F1
Parking is bought separately. Premium paid parking exists, along with free off-site lots that fill quickly. After the race, allow plenty of extra time to leave. Mogyorod town sits next to the circuit, and walking from some off-site lots is part of the day.
Hungarian GP shuttles
Shuttle arrangements are described by the organiser and should be confirmed nearer the date. Do not assume a service will run until it is published.
Where to stay for the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend
Most visitors base themselves in Budapest and commute, particularly the Pest side around Districts V, VII and XIII, where restaurants and nightlife are within walking distance. Gödöllő and the Mogyorod, Fót and Veresegyház area are quieter and closer to the track.
The race falls at the end of July and start of August, which is peak summer, so book early wherever you choose. If it is your first Grand Prix, our First F1 Grand Prix 2027 guide covers the practicalities, and the Motorsport travel guides 2027 collect similar advice for other events.
Practical tips for the Hungarian GP weekend
- Heat: expect hot, sunny weather of roughly 28 to 35 °C, with the occasional afternoon thunderstorm. Bring sun protection, water and a hat.
- Shade: the general admission slopes have little, so a light rain jacket and sunscreen both earn their place in the bag.
- Tickets: keep them on your phone, and carry ID if anyone in the group has a junior ticket.
- Exit: free off-site lots fill early, and leaving after the race takes time, so consider staying for the fan activity.
After this round the championship heads to Monza; our Italian Grand Prix page covers that weekend.
