Italian Grand Prix 2027: Monza Tickets, Grandstands, Gates and Getting There

The Italian Grand Prix 2027 is round 14 of the F1 season and a sprint weekend, with the race on Sunday 5 September at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. This guide explains the weekend format, the grandstands and grass areas, the gates, how to reach the royal park from Milan and when to book.

Italian Grand Prix 2027: dates, sprint weekend and format

The Italian Grand Prix 2027 is confirmed for Sunday 5 September, with the weekend starting on Friday 3 September. It is round 14 of 24 and one of the ten sprint weekends on the 2027 calendar. A sprint weekend adds a short Saturday race to the usual practice, qualifying and Grand Prix, so there is less free running and more at stake on every day.

Session times have not been released, and the organiser normally publishes them a few weeks before the event. We do not quote any, so treat any timetable you see elsewhere with caution until it is confirmed.

New-generation cars and a shorter race distance, expected to be around 290 km, mean the 53 laps run in 2026 will probably fall. Monza is 5.793 km with 11 turns, so even a trimmed race remains a flat-out spectacle. To see where Monza sits in the season, open the F1 2027 calendar.

Why F1 Monza is different from every other round

The Italian GP and the Temple of Speed

Built in 1922, Monza is the oldest purpose-built circuit in mainland Europe, and the Italian Grand Prix has run every year of the World Championship since 1950. The track sits inside a wooded royal park, which gives the weekend a calm, green backdrop that contrasts with the noise of the straights.

Monza F1 traditions and history

Ferrari fans give the race its identity, and the sea of red is as much a part of the event as the cars. The history has darker chapters too, including the 1933 Black Day, but also pure drama: the 1971 race ended with the closest finish ever recorded, a margin of just 0.01 seconds. Rubens Barrichello's 1:21.046 in 2004 remains the fastest lap in a race.

The circuit's capacity is about 118,865, and the long straights and heavy braking zones keep it one of the most distinctive venues of the year. Compare it with our Belgian Grand Prix page if you are choosing between two classic European weekends.

Where to watch the Italian GP: Monza grandstands and grass areas

The 2027 map includes many named grandstands, and the right choice depends on whether you want the start, the braking zones or the atmosphere. For a fuller breakdown, read our Monza grandstands 2027 guide.

Italian Grand Prix grandstands by area

  • Gradinate Traguardo and Centrale: the start/finish straight, with the grid, the pit lane, the pit wall and the podium in view.
  • Prima Variante Esterna (A/B): the outside of the first chicane, for heavy braking and first-lap incidents.
  • Piscina: between the start straight and the Prima Variante, the zone before the first chicane.
  • Seconda Variante (1/2): the second chicane, a braking zone after a long straight.
  • Lesmo 1 Esterna and Lesmo 2 Interno: fast corners in the park woods.
  • Ascari (1-4) and Uscita Ascari: the fast chicane before the run to the last corner.
  • Gradinate Interno Parabolica and Laterale Parabolica: the final corner and the exit onto the main straight.
  • Alta Velocita (B/C) and Laterale Destra (A/B/C): the high-speed section and the right side of the main straight.

Grass general admission at Monza 2027

Grass (Prato) general admission areas are available, including the Circolare Prato zone, and the official 2027 offer includes single-day and three-day grass tickets. Children under 12 enter the grass areas free, according to the organiser. Areas near Ascari and Lesmo give a woodland setting at lower cost.

Best spots for the Italian Grand Prix 2027 action

If you want the last corner and a view of the pit straight, the Parabolica and its inner stand are a strong pick. For the biggest braking and first-lap action, the Prima Variante stands (the Rettifilo) are hard to beat.

The famous track invasion after the race is part of the Monza legend. If you want to be near the podium when it happens, the main-straight stands (Gradinate Traguardo) or the Parabolica put you close. Fans may enter the track near the podium on foot, so decide on your exit before the flag falls, because the park empties slowly.

The grass areas give atmosphere, but you will be standing or sitting on the ground and walking between zones. If comfort matters, a reserved seat is worth the extra thought.

Italian Grand Prix 2027 tickets and hospitality

Tickets are on sale now, and the listing currently shows a three-day general admission pass for the Italian Grand Prix. Press the Tickets button on this page to check live availability, and join our alert if you are waiting for grandstand categories or want to be told about changes.

We do not quote prices because they depend on the category and change as stock moves. Our advice is simple: for a sprint weekend at Monza, book early, decide between a seat and a grass ticket, and keep your documents handy. Tickets are bearer documents, and the organiser applies a fiscal-seal procedure for discounts, so check the conditions before you buy.

Getting to Monza 2027 from Milan: trains, buses and gates

The nearest big airports are Milano Linate (about 25 km), Bergamo Orio al Serio (about 40 km) and Malpensa (about 50 km), all reached via Milan. From there, most visitors take a train to Monza.

Rail and bus to Monza F1

Monza station, on Via Cadoli del Lavoro, is served by the suburban lines S8, S9 and S11, about 6.6 km from the circuit. From the station, bus 204 runs to Vedano (Gate A) and bus 221 to Biassono (Gate B). Both are paid services.

Driving and the Monza gates

The park has gates at Vedano, Biassono, Villasanta, San Giorgio and Lesmo. Parking is sold separately by the organiser. The park is large, so allow a 1 to 2 km walk between gates and stands, and wear comfortable shoes.

Where to stay for the Italian Grand Prix weekend

Rooms in Monza fill early, so book as soon as you know your plans. Milan offers far more choice, particularly around Centrale and Porta Venezia, with a train out to Monza. Other options include Lecco and Como for a lakeside base, or the Brianza towns such as Vimercate and Lissone.

If you are travelling for the first time, keep your plan simple: pick a base with a direct train, buy transport and parking in advance, and leave with the crowd after the race rather than against it. Our First F1 Grand Prix 2027 guide covers what to pack, and the wider travel advice sits in the Motorsport travel guides 2027.

Weather and weekend tips for F1 Monza

Early September is usually warm, around 22 to 30 °C, and mostly dry, although afternoon storms are possible. Pack sun protection and a rain layer.

  • Walk the distance to your stand before the first session, because gates are far from the seats.
  • Keep ticket documents together, as they are bearer documents.
  • Plan your exit after the race, especially if you join the track walk at the podium.

After Monza the calendar heads to Madrid; see our Spanish Grand Prix page, or look ahead to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
