Honda HRC MotoGP 2027: Quartararo Arrives as the Second Seat Stays Open

Honda HRC, officially Honda HRC Castrol, will race in 2027 with Fabio Quartararo, who moves across from Yamaha. The second factory rider has not been confirmed, so the line-up is only partly known. This page explains the situation, the new rules and how to plan a trip to watch Honda HRC.

Honda HRC MotoGP 2027: the factory team

Honda HRC races as Honda HRC Castrol and is based in the Tokyo area of Japan. It is the manufacturer's works squad, designing the bike that the customer-style team LCR Honda also uses.

The 2027 season is a significant moment for the brand. A new regulation era starts, a new lead rider arrives and the team will want to show tangible progress.

Fabio Quartararo: the Honda HRC signing

Fabio Quartararo, born on 20 April 1999 and racing with number 20, is the 2021 MotoGP champion. His move from Yamaha to the Honda factory team was announced on 21 July 2026, making him the confirmed face of the 2027 project.

The second Honda HRC seat

The second factory rider has not been confirmed, so the line-up is listed as partial. We prefer to wait for an official announcement rather than guess, and the alert on this page will tell you as soon as the pairing is known.

Honda HRC and the 2027 technical rules

The new regulations mean 850 cc engines with a 75 mm bore, 20-litre tanks, 100% sustainable fuel and a ban on ride-height devices. Pirelli is sole tyre supplier through 2031 and the weekend gets a new Sprint qualifying format.

A reset helps teams that are rebuilding. Honda HRC will have its first real tests during the Sepang shakedown on 29 and 30 January 2027, the Sepang test on 31 January and 1 February and the Buriram test on 6 and 7 February.

Seeing Honda HRC live in 2027
