MotoGP is entering a new technical era in 2027. Engines move to 850 cc with a 75 mm bore, fuel tanks shrink to 20 litres and fuel becomes 100% sustainable. Ride-height devices are banned, Pirelli is the sole tyre supplier until 2031 and a new Sprint qualifying format changes the weekend.

For a satellite team, the first real test of the package comes at Sepang, with a shakedown on 29 and 30 January 2027 and a test on 31 January and 1 February. Buriram follows on 6 and 7 February.
