Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP 2027: Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura Lead the Line-Up

Yamaha Factory Racing, officially Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, has a fresh line-up for 2027: 2024 champion Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura, the first Japanese MotoGP winner since 2004. Here is a guide to the Iwata works team, the new regulations and the best ways to watch Yamaha Factory Racing in person.

Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP 2027: the Iwata works team

Yamaha Factory Racing runs under the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP name and is based in Iwata, Japan. It is the manufacturer's works squad, so it builds and develops the bike that its sister team Pramac Yamaha also races.

The 2027 season brings a complete refresh: both seats in the factory garage go to riders who have joined Yamaha for the new era.

Yamaha Factory Racing 2027 rider line-up

Jorge Martin joins Yamaha Factory Racing

Jorge Martin, born on 29 January 1998 and racing with number 89, is the 2024 MotoGP champion. His arrival at Yamaha was announced on 1 July 2026. He also leads the 2026 standings after round 17 in Indonesia, two points ahead of Marc Marquez with five rounds left, and the title is not yet decided.

Ai Ogura at Yamaha Factory Racing

Ai Ogura, born on 4 July 2001 and racing with number 79, won the 2026 Dutch TT, the first win by a Japanese rider in MotoGP since 2004. He joins Yamaha for 2027, which adds a strong home-market story to the factory team.

How the 2027 rules shape Yamaha Factory Racing

The regulations bring 850 cc engines with a 75 mm bore, 20-litre fuel tanks, 100% sustainable fuel and a ban on ride-height devices. Pirelli will be the sole tyre supplier for five years until 2031, and a new Sprint qualifying format will shape each weekend.

A rule reset gives any factory a chance to close gaps. Yamaha Factory Racing will take its first look at the 2027 package during the Sepang shakedown on 29 and 30 January and the Sepang test on 31 January and 1 February.

Where to watch Yamaha Factory Racing in 2027

The provisional 2027 calendar has 22 rounds. Japan's round in Motegi falls in October and could be a special occasion given Ogura's presence, while the European rounds are the easiest option for most fans.
