The United States Grand Prix 2027 is round 19 of the F1 season, with the race on Sunday 24 October at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Tickets are on sale now. This guide covers the grandstands and general admission, parking, camping, concerts, hotel areas and what to pack for the Texas weekend.
United States Grand Prix 2027: dates and weekend format
The United States Grand Prix 2027 is round 19 of 24, with the race on Sunday 24 October 2027 and the weekend beginning on Friday 22 October. It is not a sprint weekend, so the format is practice, qualifying and the Grand Prix. As a late-October date, it falls in the busiest part of the calendar, between Singapore and Mexico City.
Session times for 2027 have not been published and will be released by the organiser a few weeks before the event. Race distance is expected to shorten to about 290 km under the new rules, so the 56 laps run in 2026 will probably be reduced. See the full F1 2027 calendar for the neighbouring rounds.
Austin is also a festival weekend. Support races have included the Porsche Carrera Cup, F1 Academy and a historic masters series, and the Saturday and Sunday concerts are as much a part of the plan as the track action.
Why F1 Austin and COTA are different
The United States GP circuit
The Circuit of the Americas is 5.513 km long with 20 turns, and it has a capacity of around 120,000. The first race was held in 2012 and was won by Lewis Hamilton. Charles Leclerc's 1:36.169 from 2019 is the lap record.
Austin F1 atmosphere and history
The signature is the climb to Turn 1, an 11 percent uphill run to the first corner at the top of the Big Red hill, followed by the fast esses from Turns 3 to 6. The elevation change gives spectators on the hill a view few venues can match. In 2022, the weekend set an attendance record near 440,000.
It is a big, social event with a distinctly Texan feel. Compare it with the nighttime glamour of the Singapore Grand Prix a few weeks earlier.
Where to watch the United States GP: grandstands and general admission
United States Grand Prix grandstands
- Main Grandstand: on the start/finish straight, with about 9,000 seats over three levels.
- Turn 1 Grandstand: at the top of the Big Red hill, with an iconic first-corner view.
- Turn 4 Grandstand: at the stars-and-stripes corner.
- Atlassian Williams F1 Team Grandstand: also at Turn 4, offering premium views.
- Turn 15 Grandstand: a further official stand.
- Germania Insurance Amphitheater: next to Turn 12, a concert venue with permanent seating.
General admission at COTA
Three-day general admission and single-day tickets give open-grounds viewing. The Turn 1 hill and the other elevated areas are very popular. The esses area from Turns 3 to 6 is another good choice for fast, flowing corners, and Turn 12 and the Amphitheater are the place for stadium atmosphere and concerts.
Prepare for walking: the Turn 1 hill is steep, the grounds are large, and shade is not guaranteed.
United States Grand Prix 2027 tickets and hospitality
Tickets are on sale now. Press the Tickets button on this page to see current availability for general admission, single-day tickets and grandstand seats. Because prices change with category and demand, we do not list figures. Booking early generally gives the widest choice, especially for Turn 1 and the main straight.
Parking is separate, and a pre-purchased parking pass is required, so add it to your plan from the start. If you would rather avoid driving, shuttles run during the weekend, and a free tram links the rideshare drop-off lot to the box office area.

Getting to the United States GP: airport, shuttles, parking and bikes
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is roughly 25 to 30 minutes from the circuit by road. Downtown Austin is about 15 miles away, so most visitors take a shuttle or rideshare.
Shuttles and rideshare at COTA
Shuttles run during race weekends. Rideshare services use the McAngus Lot, from which a free tram runs to the box office near Grand Plaza. Expect queues at the end of the day.
Parking and cycling for the Austin F1 race
A pre-purchased parking pass is required for the official lots. An official bike route map is also available for those who prefer to cycle in. Whichever you choose, arrive early on Sunday.
Where to stay and camp for the Austin F1 weekend
Downtown Austin is the most popular base, with South Congress and the Red River and East Austin areas offering livelier alternatives. Bastrop and Elgin are quieter and closer to the track for those who prefer a calmer stay. Book early, because the race weekend fills the city.
Camping at the United States Grand Prix
The circuit offers two official camping options: a Premium RV area along the back straight with hook-ups, and Lot N Dry Camping near Turn 3. Check conditions and availability when you book. For more on combining a race with a trip, browse the Motorsport travel guides 2027.
