NASCAR Charlotte: Round 32 and the Carolina connection

Most teams are based within an hour of the speedway, in and around Mooresville and Concord, so the October race is something of a home game for the sport. The weekend begins on Friday 15 October and the race is on Sunday 17 October 2027. The date is confirmed. Compared with the endurance of the Coca-Cola 600, this event is shorter and keener.

Charlotte: what the 1.5-mile oval rewards

Opened in 1960, the track is a 1.5-mile quad-oval with banked turns and a long frontstretch. Its surface is demanding in autumn, as cooler air changes the balance of the cars. Drivers search for grip at the top of the track and the lead can pass between several cars in a single run.
