NASCAR Kansas May 2027 at Kansas Speedway: Midwest Race Weekend Planner

NASCAR Kansas May: Kansas in May: where it sits in the 2027 season

The series arrives from Texas and heads towards the Dover and All-Star weeks. Friday 7 May is the first track day, and the main race falls on Sunday 9 May. The date has confirmed status. A second Kansas race follows in autumn: NASCAR Kansas October.

Kansas May: a D-shaped intermediate with sweeping bends

Kansas Speedway opened in 2001 and has a tri-oval layout of 1.5 miles. The racing surface was repaved in 2012, giving it a smooth finish with multiple grooves. Drivers can run high or low through the corners, and that variety produces side-by-side action when the tyres are fresh.

As rubber builds up the fastest line tends to migrate, so crews spend practice and the early laps hunting for balance. Long green-flag stints reward cars that stay consistent, and a late caution can reshuffle everything. Fans who enjoy tactics find Kansas rewarding to watch.

Tickets are open through the Tickets button. The grandstand rows near the start-finish line see pit work clearly, while sections near turns 1 and 2 give a better feel for speed. It is wise to compare sections on the plan rather than choosing at random.

NASCAR Kansas City: weekend logistics around Kansas City

The track is in Kansas City, Kansas, a short drive from the Legends shopping district and about 20 minutes from downtown. May can bring warm sunshine or heavy storms, so pack for both. Hotels in the metro area are plentiful, which makes this an easy trip. The full season list is on the NASCAR 2027 schedule page.
