NASCAR Dover 2027 at Dover Motor Speedway: Visiting the Monster Mile

NASCAR Dover: a single mile of concrete with serious banking

Dover Motor Speedway opened in 1969 and measures exactly one mile. The surface is concrete, and the turns are banked at an aggressive angle, so cars carry plenty of speed yet feel every bump. The combination wears out tyres and drivers alike, and late in the race it is endurance rather than outright pace that counts.

A giant statue of the monster that gives the venue its nickname overlooks the infield, and fans like to photograph it.

Where the Dover date falls in 2027

Arriving between Kansas and the lead-up to the Coca-Cola 600, round 12 runs from Friday 14 May to Sunday 16 May. The date is confirmed. One thing is still open: the official name of the race for 2027 had not been settled at the time of writing.

NASCAR Dover 2027 seating

Tickets are available at present through the Tickets button. Higher rows give a broader sense of the oval and the pit lane, while seats lower down capture the noise and the sensation of the banking. It is worth checking the exact section before booking.

Getting to Dover, Delaware

Dover lies in the middle of Delaware, roughly equidistant from Philadelphia and Baltimore. Many fans fly into one of those cities and drive south; others come by road from Washington. Mid-May weather is usually mild, although rain showers are common. Accommodation fills fast in a small town, so plan early. Coming up, the All-Star Race is the next big date, and the entire season is on the NASCAR 2027 schedule.
