NASCAR All-Star Race 2027 at North Wilkesboro: An Exhibition Back at a Classic Track

What makes the All-Star Race different

The All-Star Race pays no championship points, which frees drivers to take risks they would avoid in a regular round. It is a showcase event with its own rules and prizes, and fans treat it as a mid-season party. In 2027 it falls on Sunday 23 May, with the weekend starting on Friday 21 May. The date is confirmed, and format details will follow from the organiser.

NASCAR All-Star Race: North Wilkesboro Speedway and its revival

This 0.625-mile short track in the foothills of the Blue Ridge hosted NASCAR in its very first season, in 1949, then fell silent after the 1996 season. It was repaved and brought back to life in recent years, and the All-Star Race has been a feature of the reopening. Old grandstands, a rustic setting and a distinctly local atmosphere make it unlike any modern complex.

The oval is fast for a short track, with wide corners that allow drivers to pass on the outside.

Listings are currently available through the Tickets button. Capacity is smaller than at big superspeedways, so options may thin out sooner. Compare grandstand locations on the plan and consider booking early.

All-Star Race: a weekend in the Blue Ridge foothills

North Wilkesboro is a small town in the north-west of North Carolina, some distance from the large cities of the Piedmont. Nearby towns such as Wilkesboro, Boone and Winston-Salem provide beds. Traffic on narrow rural roads can be slow, and late May temperatures are warm with evening storms. The next round, the Coca-Cola 600, is a short drive away. Look at the NASCAR 2027 schedule for the sequence, or back up to Dover.
