NASCAR Pocono 2027 at Pocono Raceway: A Triangle in the Mountains

NASCAR Pocono: understanding the Tricky Triangle

The circuit is a 2.5-mile triangle with a different banking angle in each of its three corners, which means drivers cannot use the same approach three times in a lap. Teams struggle to find one set-up that suits all three, and fuel strategy and pit timing frequently decide the finish. Stretches of the lap feel almost like three separate tracks stitched together, and drivers talk about it as a circuit that never lets them relax.

It opened in 1969 and sits in the Pocono Mountains of north-eastern Pennsylvania.

Pocono: date and place in the season

The race occupies Friday 11 June to Sunday 13 June 2027 and is round 15, between Nashville and the Michigan trip. Status confirmed; times unpublished.

NASCAR Pocono 2027 tickets

Seats are on offer at present via the Tickets button. The wide straight in front of the grandstands lets you see cars at full speed, but corners 1 and 3 give the best view of passing attempts. Decide whether you prefer speed or battle and choose accordingly. Fans who have not visited before often pick a spot opposite the pits so they can compare the view with the television picture.

Weekend in the Poconos

The track is near the town of Blakeslee, a couple of hours' drive from both New York City and Philadelphia. Many fans use the area's holiday cabins and resorts. June days are warm and nights cool in the mountains, with occasional fog. Roads leading to the speedway are single-lane in places, so queues form early. After Pocono the series moves on to NASCAR Michigan; see the NASCAR 2027 schedule for the wider picture.
