NASCAR Sonoma: Round 19 and the summer road-course date

The July stop in northern California follows Iowa and is the summer's first road-course date, ahead of Atlanta. The weekend runs from Friday 9 July to Sunday 11 July 2027 and has confirmed status.

Sonoma: a hillside circuit with elevation change

Sonoma Raceway, which began as Sears Point in 1968, winds across rolling hills with significant elevation change. The lap includes a fast downhill section known as the Carousel and a tight hairpin that closes the lap. Drivers brake heavily, and the stock cars slide on the limit; overtaking often happens at the hairpin.

Where to watch at Sonoma Raceway

The natural slopes give you natural amphitheatres. Many fans pick a hillside spot with a view of two or three corners rather than a fixed grandstand seat, so general-admission areas are popular.
