Bristol April: a half-mile bowl: what Bristol does to a race

Bristol Motor Speedway is a 0.533-mile concrete oval with steep banking. Laps take only a few seconds, so lapped cars appear constantly and leaders must thread through traffic. Contact is frequent and tempers fray, which is a large part of the circuit's appeal.

Why NASCAR Bristol seats feel so close to the action

The grandstands rise steeply around the whole track, so almost every seat looks straight down on the racing. You can see the entire circuit from nearly anywhere, a rare thing in motorsport.

NASCAR Bristol April: travel to Bristol, Tennessee, in spring

The town sits on the Virginia border in the Appalachian hills, with Johnson City and Kingsport close by. Roads around the speedway are narrow and fill up fast, so arrive well before the start. April weather here can be cool and damp, so bring a coat. The other talk of the town is the night race in August: Bristol Night Race. For all the rounds see the NASCAR 2027 schedule.
