Formula 1 2027 · 3 October 2027Turkish Grand Prix 2027: Istanbul Park Return, Travel Tips and Ticket Alerts
The Turkish Grand Prix 2027 is listed as round 17 of the F1 calendar, with the race on Sunday 3 October at Istanbul Park, on the Asian side of the city. This is a return after 2021, and some details, including ticket sales and circuit approval, are still to be confirmed. This guide explains what is known and how to prepare.
Turkish Grand Prix 2027: date, status and what is still to be confirmed
The Turkish Grand Prix 2027 appears on the calendar as round 17, with the race on Sunday 3 October 2027 and the weekend starting on Friday 1 October. It is not a sprint weekend, and it marks Turkey's return to Formula 1 after the 2020 and 2021 races.
We want to be straightforward about the status. The date comes from the published calendar, but circuit homologation for the return could not be verified from an official source, so treat that point as to be confirmed. The 2027 ticket structure and on-sale date have also not been published. Our advice is to confirm the ticket launch before committing to flights or hotels.
Session times will be released by the organiser a few weeks before the weekend. Under the 2027 rules, race distance is expected to be around 290 km, so fewer than the historic 58 laps. For the surrounding rounds, open the F1 2027 calendar.
What makes F1 Istanbul Park special
The Turkish Grand Prix circuit
Istanbul Park was designed by Hermann Tilke and opened in August 2005. It is 5.338 km long with 14 turns, laid out over rolling terrain in Tuzla. Juan Pablo Montoya's 1:24.770 in 2005 is still the lap record.
Turn 8 and Istanbul F1 history
Turn 8, known as Diabolica, is the standout corner: a long, four-apex left-hander that loads the cars and tyres for several seconds. Turn 1 is the main braking and overtaking zone after the start. Formula 1 raced here from 2005 to 2011, and again in 2020 and 2021. Felipe Massa won three times in a row, from 2006 to 2008.
The circuit has a capacity of roughly 125,000 including natural and temporary stands, but the 2027 layout of seating has not been published. If you enjoy a classic corner sequence, this will rank near the top of the calendar. Compare it with the street-circuit feel of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix a week earlier.
Where to watch the Turkish GP: grandstands and best spots
Only the main stand and the signature corner could be verified, and no 2027 stand map exists yet. We therefore prefer to describe zones rather than invent names.
Best spots at Istanbul Park for the Turkish Grand Prix
- Turn 8 (Diabolica): the headline corner, and the one most fans want to see.
- Turn 1: the braking zone for overtaking after the start.
- Main grandstand: the start and the pit action.
General admission and seating for F1 Istanbul
The track has natural and temporary stands, so you might find hillside areas as well as reserved seats. The ticket structure for 2027 has not been verified, so we will not promise general admission. Once the ticket map is released, we will update this guide and tell you through the alert.
Turkish Grand Prix 2027 tickets and hospitality
Tickets are not on sale yet. The ticket system for 2027 has not been published, so there are no categories to compare. Press the Tickets button on this page when sales begin to check availability, and join the alert to hear first.
We do not show prices, because none exist yet. When tickets do open, we would book early for the seats nearest Turn 1 and the main straight, as the return of a popular venue is likely to draw strong demand. Do not buy flights and hotels until you are sure the sales are open and the event is confirmed.

Getting to Istanbul F1: airport, traffic and the Asian side
The circuit is in Tuzla, on the Asian side of Istanbul. The closest airport is Sabiha Gökçen, on the Tuzla and Pendik side of the city, which makes it much more convenient than the European-side airports for race weekend.
Traffic across the Bosphorus is heavy, and you should expect congestion on the roads to Tuzla. Leave early, avoid crossing between continents on race day, and keep a margin before your flight home. We do not have confirmed information on rail or shuttle services, so we will not suggest any; check again once the organiser publishes its visitor guide.
If this is your first race, our First F1 Grand Prix 2027 guide is a good checklist.
Where to stay for the Turkish Grand Prix weekend
Because of the traffic, staying on the Asian side is the practical choice. Tuzla and Pendik put you closest to the track, while Kadıköy gives you a lively base with restaurants, cafés and ferries.
If you want the classic Istanbul sightseeing, Sultanahmet and Beyoğlu on the European side are unbeatable, but you will pay for it in travel time on race days. A good compromise is to spend a few days on the European side before or after the race and move to the Asian side for the weekend itself. Our Motorsport travel guides 2027 give more ideas on how to combine a race with a city break.
Practical tips for the Turkish GP 2027

- Traffic: expect heavy traffic to Tuzla and leave early.
- Tickets: the 2027 ticket system is not yet published, so confirm the launch before booking travel.
